Happy Fall 🍂
The air is crisp, the clocks have changed, and the tent on Leggett field is gone. We’ve officially finished the first quarter of the academic year and are moving quickly towards our end-of-the-year break. Here’s an overview of November and December for your review as we head into our winter holiday season.
November
11/7 Parent Forum
Thanks to the parents and caregivers who came out to hear my presentation, Upper School Academics 101, linked here. It provided information on what to expect for your students this first semester.
11/14 Grades and Comments
Students reviewed their Q1 Comments with advisors and saw their grades last week, with parents accessing them on Tuesday. They were encouraged to touch base with their teachers with any questions or for help working on any of the suggestions for improvement.
11/22-11/26 Thanksgiving Break
School is closed next Wednesday-Friday for Thanksgiving. If you have earlier travel plans, please make sure that your student has completed and submitted their Planned Absence form for any time they are away. Absences are unexcused until the form has been signed and submitted.
*Also, please note that faculty and staff will also be on break and will not be responding to emails during this time.

December
12/7 & 12/8 Parent Conferences
In a few weeks, you will have an opportunity to meet with your student’s teachers to discuss their progress in classes and ask any questions you may have. Please see this note from Ms. Lalli on the conferences:
On Thursday, December 7th and Friday, December 8th we will be holding Parent-Teacher Conferences on campus. On Monday, November 20th, you’ll be given access via the resources page on myDE to pick the window of time you’d like to come to campus. There will be a window on Thursday afternoon, Thursday evening, Friday morning, and Friday afternoon. During this time, families will visit their student’s teachers for 10 minute conversations. Individual conference times are not scheduled within this window. If your schedule is limited on those days, please be sure to mark your calendar for 11/20 so that you can sign up for the conference window that best suits your needs. There will be 150 slots per window and they will all be first come, first serve. If you aren’t able to attend conferences, please reach out to your student’s Dean to talk about an alternative plan for following up with high-priority teachers. You’ll receive a reminder from Kim Lalli on Monday about the opening of the “pick-a-time” resource.
Assessments before and after Break
With P.A.W. replacing the end-of-semester exams, students will have some culminating projects and tests immediately before and after break. We are currently working to make sure that these times are not overwhelming, and will share the details about what students can expect each of those weeks soon.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend, a great fall, and a happy holiday season.
Be well,
Tuc
