Dear 11th Grade Families,

I’d like to thank all of you who attended Monday night’s forum.  It’s always a pleasure to you, and I particularly enjoyed your keen insights on Make It Stick and the learning process.  You gave me a lot to think about on my drive home!
I know these evening forums can be challenging to attend from a scheduling standpoint, so I’d just like to give everyone a brief rundown of the program:
Chithra Balasingham started us off with a brief announcement on the Annual Fund, and then Eileen Feikens gave some updates from the College Counseling Office.  Of note, college counselors will be meeting with their assigned advisories on Friday, November 17 and then will ask students to set up individual meetings with them in the weeks following.  In early December, college counselors will be working with their assigned students to set up their Scoir accounts, a program which will assist you in the college search process.
Kim Lalli communicated to the entire community, including families, about the Projects and Assessments (PAW) week, but I took some time in the Forum to respond to parents’ questions about this new initiative.  Again, Ms. Lalli sent information to the community detailing this new student experience.
In the last portion of our program, we read an excerpt from Let It Stick, a book describing practices to support meaningful, lasting learning.  As I wrote earlier, I’m very grateful for the thoughtful ideas people shared in our discussion about the book.
I’ve attached the slides from the evening, which give a very brief framework for the evening, and the excerpt we read from Make It Stick.
Thanks again for supporting the class of 2025, and as always, feel free to get in touch if you ever need anything.
Warmly,
Brian
