Greetings 11th Grade Families,

With comments past us and Thanksgiving right around the corner, we are firmly in the second quarter.  As a quick reminder, interim grades do not appear on students’ transcripts, but rather are meant to give a snapshot of their progress at the end of the first quarter.  I’d like to give you some updates about some upcoming events in the next few weeks:

The deadline for students to contribute to the D-E Thanksgiving Drives is Friday, November 17.  In terms of food, 11th graders are responsible for donating low sugar cereal, peanut butter and jelly, canned gravy, boxed stuffing, and supermarket gift cards.  For the clothing drive, all D-E students are encouraged to contribute coats, hats, scarves, gloves, sweaters, and sweatshirts.  Students should bring donations to their advisors, and any of the items listed above would be much appreciated.

Also this Friday (the 17th), our College Counselors will be meeting with their assigned 11th grade advisories to provide information as they begin the college search process.

On Thursday, December 7th and Friday, December 8th we will be holding Parent-Teacher Conferences on campus. On Monday, November 20th, you’ll be given access via the resources page on myDE to pick the window of time you’d like to come to campus. There will be a window on Thursday afternoon, Thursday evening, Friday morning, and Friday afternoon. During this time, families will visit their student’s teachers for 10 minute conversations. Individual conference times are not scheduled within this window. If your schedule is limited on those days, please be sure to mark your calendar for 11/20 so that you can sign up for the conference window that best suits your needs. There will be 150 slots per window and they will all be first come, first serve. If you aren’t able to attend conferences, please reach out to me to talk about an alternative plan for following up with high-priority teachers. You’ll receive a reminder from Kim Lalli on Monday about the opening of the “pick-a-time” resource.

As always, feel free to get in touch if you ever need anything.  I wish you and your families all the best for a wonderful Thanksgiving, and with this holiday in mind, I’m very grateful to have had the opportunity to build relationships with you and your 11th graders the past year and a quarter.
Warmly,
Brian
