04.13.23 An April Message from Shai Zacaraev

From Shai Zacaraev, Dean for Class of 2023

We are on the home stretch! With baseball season in full swing this felt like the best way to get us started with this quick update on what is going on with our seniors. The next few weeks will be jam packed and I am excited to share some of the upcoming events and activities that the seniors will be engaging in with you all. On Wednesday the grade began the Eliminator game, an activity that is now in its second year at DE. It was started last year with Ms. Lalli’s class and is a fun way to decompress as we begin saying our goodbyes and finishing up our work for the year. I also wanted to share this link here, it is the letter our Dean of College Counseling emailed the kids to help center them as we are close to wrapping up the college applications process.

Over the next few weeks we will begin thinking about graduation and voting on our class speaker and reader (reads a poem for the class). One of the events I have been most looking forward to is the senior selectives process, which begins after their last official day of school. This program has been refined over the years to ensure that our soon to be graduates have a chance to engage with the community in all the best ways possible in the weeks leading up to graduation. Finally, on May 19th, we will have the Junior/Senior Prom! The kids have been talking about this for months, everything from transportation to creating a process that ensures no one wears the same dress have been methodically discussed and we are all looking forward to seeing the kids have a great time. What a time to be a senior parent! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly at any point if you have any questions or to just check in for a quick chat.
