04.13.23 An April Message from Brian Merry

Published: 04/13/2023

From Brian Merry, Dean for Class of 2025

We’ve made it to the fourth quarter, and spring is in the air!  After several weeks of break and holidays, we’re entering our stretch run of the school year.  Thank you all for supporting your 10th graders with the scheduling process, which is perhaps most challenging with so many new choices and pathways available to students in their junior and senior years.  As a next step in the process, students will be hearing final placement decisions and the results are not ultimately set until the end of the drop/add period towards the end of September, so there is some fluidity until then.  The spring is a wonderful time of renewal, and it’s been refreshing to see students on the fields during lunch and free periods once again.  It’s also an exciting time on campus, with concerts, spring sports, and our end of year day trip (more details on that in the weeks ahead once we finalize plans) on the horizon.  Please remind your 10th graders that we haven’t quite reached the end yet though, and that they need to keep their focus until the end of the year.  But as I wrote in the previous “Dean’s Corner,” I’ve noted real growth through the course of the school year, which gives me confidence that we’ll end the year on a high note.  Enjoy the warmer days ahead, and I hope to see you Wednesday.
