Dear Grade 10 (Class of 2025) Parents/Guardians,
In response to enthusiastic student interest in an overnight trip, we will be offering an optional 10th grade excursion to Washington, DC! We will be departing from D-E Saturday, March 11 at 6:00 am, staying in Washington, DC that night, and returning to D-E the next day at approximately 6:00 PM.
Some highlights of our trip will include a tour of the U.S Capitol, picture opportunities in front of the White House, several of the Smithsonian Museums, Arlington National Cemetery, lunch at Union Station, and a tour of the monuments at night.
The cost of the trip is $360 and will include transportation to and from DC, lodging, meals, tours, and Metro tickets. Payments can be made by cash or check (made out to Dwight-Englewood School) and delivered to Debbie Murphy at the Student Activities Office. Credit card payments (which includes a service charge) can also be paid through the following link: https://DCtrip.givesmart.com. Financial assistance is available, and inquiries can be made to Debbie Murphy by Wednesday, February 8. All assistance conversations will be handled with confidentiality and sensitivity. Students or parents can inquire about assistance in order to attend the trip. A student’s reservation on the trip is not confirmed until payment is made by the end of the school day Wednesday, February 8.
This will be a wonderful experience that continues a thematic thread we began with our trip to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty last fall. We sincerely hope as many students attend as possible. Please contact me or Debbie Murphy (murphd@d-e.org) if you have any questions.
