In early February, Dwight-Englewood will be hosting a visiting orchestra and chorus from the St. Dominic’s Sixth Form College in London. This will be the third exchange and joint concert connecting our two schools in what is quickly becoming an annual tradition. Our orchestra visited them last summer, and this year, their group of 50 students will arrive on Wednesday, Feb 8th and begin rehearsing with our orchestra and chorus, all to culminate in a Valentines Day concert at Symphony Space on the upper west side of Manhattan the evening of February 14th at 7:30, to which all are invited, no charge. The group will be staying with D-E families from Feb 8 until Feb. 11 (three nights) and we have arranged hosts within the music program. We are, though, still looking for a few more families to host a student for those evenings. The visiting students will be occupied during the day so this is really for evenings only. The visiting students are the equivalent ages of our juniors and seniors.
We will be sending a more formal announcement about the concert soon, but please mark it down as a great way to spend Valentines Day and plan to join us in the city. The groups will play individually as well as all together in what promises to be a beautiful event on a great stage in New York.
