Dear Grade 10 (Class of 2025) Parents/Guardians,

Greetings from the College Counseling Office (CCO)! We are writing to inform you about several upcoming events in the new year:

The first event is an open Virtual College Roundtable on Thursday, January 19th from 4-5 pm.
Bring any questions about the college process! Attendance is optional, please note that your questions will drive the discussion. Be on the lookout for a Zoom Link which we will send in early January.

The second event is a practice PSAT on Saturday, February 4th that we have planned with Compass Education Group. This fully digital practice PSAT is open to any interested 10th grader. Please register at least 48 hours in advance using this link. This opportunity is free of charge to all Dwight-Englewood students and allows us to provide a mock PSAT in a safe environment without interrupting the school day and impacting the valuable instructional time in your child’s classes. In addition, this practice or “P-PSAT” will closely align with the official digital PSAT that will be offered to students next fall. Please know that colleges will not see these scores, nor will this affect eligibility for the National Merit Scholarship Program which will occur when your child sits for the official PSAT as a junior next October.

*Please know that for those of you who may be interested, we have arranged for online practice testing opportunities for both the SAT and ACT and will send additional registration information about these events in early January!

The third event is an informative discussion with Dean Matthew Hyde from Trinity College in CT on Wednesday, February 15th at 7pm in Hajjar Auditorium. Previous to his current leadership role at Trinity, Dean Hyde led the Admissions Office at Lafayette College in PA and worked on the Tufts University Admissions team. His tenure at these three schools has afforded him a deep understanding of admission at selective institutions over the past two decades. During this program Dean Hyde will provide an overarching perspective of the college admissions landscape along with context for how you and your child can approach the application process with intentionality and understanding. We warmly invite both you and your 10th grader to attend what we anticipate to be an insightful and interesting presentation!

We look forward to partnering with you and your child throughout their high school journey and  college process and encourage you to reach out to the College Counseling Office with any questions.

With warm regards,
The CCO Team
