From Brian Merry, Dean for the Class of 2025

Hello 10th grade families!

It’s been such a pleasure meeting the 10th graders these past few weeks, and there’s been a really nice spirit on campus since they arrived.  While last week was a time of back-to-school anticipation and special introductions, the students seem to be settling into the rhythm of the school day and their classes this week.  Through my conversations with some of them, they’ve definitely noticed the increasing demands of 10th grade classes, but they also are very game to meet the challenge.  I also met with the class representatives last week and discussed the importance of building a sense of community among the students in the grade and having fun, team-building experiences together.  With that in mind, we’re considering possible off campus experiences we can participate in this year.  We’re also finalizing our plans for our October 7 day trip, so I’ll be communicating with you and the students soon on that.  On a personal note, my first week at D-E has exceeded my expectations and made me feel so fortunate to be a part of the community.  At the heart of this are my first interactions with the students, and I’m truly looking forward to getting to know the 10th graders in the days and weeks ahead.

Cheers,

Brian Merry
Dean of Class of 2025
